Advertising and Product Marketing:

  • Developed strategy and directed the United States Mint 50 State Quarters advertising and promotion campaign (2001-2005).
  • Served as Managing Partner of a virtual advertising agency assembled to handle the federal government’s ninth largest advertising account.
  • Directed creative and media buying teams in the production and placement of television, print and radio commercials.
  • Increased awareness of the program by 75% and sales by 45%.

Advocacy Advertising:

  • Developed strategy, managed creative development and directed advocacy advertising campaigns for several Washington-based public affairs companies.
  • Directed creative and media buying teams in the production and placement of television, print, radio and online advertising.

Stakeholder Communications:

  • Developed an innovative web-based program to identify, educate, recruit and activate stakeholders and customers to advance a large health care organization’s public policy agenda.
  • Created the strategy, built organizational support, developed a multi-year budget, assembled a team of vendors, and managed the creative development process.
  • Identified and recruited 100,000 activists to the stakeholder database in 18 months.

Coalition and Campaign Management:

  • Developed a long-term communications strategy to build a diverse coalition in support of the relocation of the Panama City – Bay County International Airport, the first new international airport built since 9/11.
  • Developed messages, media and materials to dominate the public debate in an adversarial environment.
  • Airport is currently under construction and scheduled to open May 2010.

Blogs and Web Sites:

  • Developed strategy, produced and managed editorial calendar and content for numersous blogs and web sites.
  • Produced low-budget sites using free or low-cost blogging, subscription management and analytic software.
  • Produced message-driven written, photographic and video content for multiple sites.
  • Implemented targeted stakeholder recruitment and subscription programs for niche issues.

Web Site Analysis and Strategy:

  • Conducted an in-depth SWOT Analysis for a leading children’s health non-profit focused on using the Internet to achieve organizational goals.
  • Identified weaknesses in the organization’s existing web programs and provided a road map for future positioning, web site development and customer service improvements.

Writing and Editorial Services:

  • Managed and produced written materials for numerous issue and advocacy campaigns.
  • Extensive experience writing on a wide range of issues, including technology, the environment and sustainability, health care, large-scale infrastructure, aviation and economic development.
  • Wrote and produced op-eds, white papers, presentations, fact sheets, advocacy films and videos.

CEO and Senior Executive Communications:

  • Worked closely with CEOs and senior executives drafting messages and talking points for media appearances, speeches, and multimedia presentations.
